Alive
On a road walked a man, who soon met another,
Sad and tired, so he said to him, "Brother,
Why is it you walk so slow?
You drag your feet, you hang your head low."
To this, in reply, the second man said,
"I'm mourning a loss; My master is dead.
Have you not heard? Are you new in this land?
He was murdered by those who can't understand."
The first asked the second, "What has he done,
That his death hurts you so, and darkens the sun?"
To this he was answered, "This man was pure love,
He was my Savior, sent from God up above.
He loved beyond love, he cared beyond reason,
He should not have died, it was not yet his season.
He gave the ultimate gift, he gave us his life,
To save us forever from sadness and strife."
The first told the second, "Grieve for me no longer,
Because of your love, your heart is made stronger.
Your master's alive! I now walk around.
The power of sin could not keep me down."
The second man stared, then his heart soared,
His eyes had been opened; This was his Lord!
